Yamato is a close-range assassin who wins fights up close, chaining precise sword strikes instead of poking from range. She uses Flying Slash to grapple toward an enemy and get into striking distance, then layers Power Slash and Crimson Slash to damage, slow, and disable her target while healing herself off hero hits. Once she's fully engaged she can pop Shadow Transformation to become briefly invincible, refresh her abilities, and fight at 60% faster ability speed. She has no ranged poke and relies on closing the gap, so staying stuck to her target is the whole game. Build her as a melee/spirit bruiser who dives the backline and snowballs off hero kills.
Strong vs: Yamato excels against squishy, immobile backline heroes she can reach with Flying Slash. Immobile carries and supports who can't kite the grapple are easy dives once she lands on top of them. Heroes that rely on sustained fights rather than burst struggle against her self-healing Crimson Slash and resist-stacked ultimate. Any target caught alone and out of position dies fast to a fully charged combo. She especially punishes heroes who commit to a fight without a real escape.
Weak vs: She struggles against long-range heroes who kite her and punish a mistimed grapple from outside her melee threat range. Dispel and invincibility effects break the Flying Slash connection, and Slowing Hex disables the grapple entirely. The charge-up on Power Slash roots her in place, so it's easy to interrupt, dodge, or trade around. Heavy crowd control and burst that lands before her ultimate goes up can kill her during the window where she has no safe dive. She also lacks reliable ranged damage, so she can't contest poke from distance.
Mo & Krill are a disruptive, tanky initiator who want to be in the middle of every fight, not on its edges. They start fights by Burrowing toward the enemy, which speeds them up and grants bullet and spirit armor, then pop out for a knockup and slow on anyone caught above them. Sand Blast disarms enemies in front so they can't shoot back while the team collapses on them. Scorn is their sustain: spray it into a crowd to heal off the damage, and the heal is stronger against enemy heroes, so staying aggressive keeps them alive. Combo is the payoff, holding a chosen target in place so the team can delete them. Play them as the front-line thread who drags fights where they want and refuses to die.
Strong vs: Mo & Krill bully heroes whose damage depends on a single gun, because Sand Blast disarms their weapon while they walk them down with Burrow and Combo. Their armor and Scorn sustain make them strong against poke comps that want to chip them from range instead of committing. They also thrive against enemies who back into corners, where a Burrow knockup and Combo can't be dodged. Any hero who needs their weapon to fight loses most of their output the moment Sand Blast lands.
Weak vs: High-impact lock-down and stun tools hurt a lot, and Knockdown specifically stuns them and immediately cancels Burrow. Because they want to live in the middle of the fight, they can be focused and bursted before Scorn heals them back. Heroes who can kite or disengage out of Combo's range make their committed dives whiff. Combo's long cooldown also means a baited or missed grab leaves them without their best tool for a long stretch.
Mo & Krill has the larger base health pool at 930, compared to 730 for Yamato.
Yamato has the higher weapon DPS at 63.216, versus 59.682 for Mo & Krill.
Neither hero is strictly better — they fit different roles. Yamato is an Assassin and Mo & Krill is a Brawler, so the right pick depends on your team composition, the enemy draft, and which playstyle you are comfortable with. Check the win rates on our tier list for the current patch.
