Shiv is a cutthroat monster hunter who plays as a hit-and-run assassin, flinging Serrated Knives to bleed enemies from range before dashing into close quarters on his own terms. He closes the gap with Slice and Dice, a forward dash that damages enemies along its path and stacks a spirit resist shred on everyone he clips. Constantly dealing damage fills his Rage meter, and at full Rage he becomes a one-man army with a damage bonus and upgraded versions of his abilities. Bloodletting lets him absorb a burst by deferring part of the incoming damage, then clear a portion of it when he activates the ability. He finishes weak targets with Killing Blow, a leap that executes anyone below the health threshold, and executing tops his Rage back up.
Strong vs: Shiv thrives against squishy, low-health heroes who die to his burst and can't escape his dash. He excels at running down out-of-position targets, since Slice and Dice closes distance and Killing Blow executes anyone trying to disengage below the threshold. Bleed pressure from Serrated Knives punishes heroes who try to heal through fights, because the damage keeps ticking. He also shines in sustained brawls where he can keep building Rage into full-Rage bonuses. Against heroes without reliable crowd control, his dives are hard to stop.
Weak vs: Shiv struggles against reliable crowd control and displacement, because his kit is built around dashing in and staying on top of a target. Movement silence is especially punishing — Slowing Hex removes his shotgun's knockback and disables Slice and Dice and Killing Blow. Heroes who burst him down before he fills Rage deny his full-Rage spike entirely. Anyone who can safely kite beyond his short dash range neuters his dive and forces him to waste cooldowns. Because Rage starts decaying after 12 seconds without dealing damage, opponents who disengage and stall him drain his momentum.
Bebop is an isolating and disruptive golem who wins by yanking a single target out of position and dumping damage on them. Everything starts with Grapple Arm, a 30m hook that pulls the first character it hits, and it works on allies too, so he can save a teammate or drag a carry into his team. Once someone is reeled in, attach Sticky Bomb and hit them with Exploding Uppercut to launch them before the bomb detonates. His Humble Pie beam weapon has a short wind-up and a hard max range, so he is a mid-range fighter, not a sniper. Lock people down with the hook, burst them with the bomb and uppercut, and fall back on Hyper Beam to cut down whoever survives.
Strong vs: Bebop punishes anything that stands out of position. He is strong against squishy, immobile damage dealers who like to sit at range, because one hook drags them into his team and the Sticky Bomb plus Uppercut combo bursts them before they can react. He is also a strong peeler who uses Exploding Uppercut's knockback and Grapple Arm to pull divers off his own carries. In a teamfight he can isolate a single high-value target, turning a 5v5 into a 5v4. His Sticky Bomb gives him permanent scaling, so he only gets stronger the longer the match runs.
Weak vs: Bebop struggles when he misses the hook, because Grapple Arm is his whole initiation and its cooldown leaves him with no way in. He is vulnerable during Hyper Beam since he is locked in the air and easy to punish. His Humble Pie beam has a short wind-up and a hard max range, so long-range attackers can poke him from outside his reach. He also lacks mobility, so once he is the one being focused he has few tools to escape. He needs his team nearby to convert hooks, because alone he usually cannot finish most targets.
Bebop has the larger base health pool at 880, compared to 830 for Shiv.
Bebop has the higher weapon DPS at 59.287, versus 52.246 for Shiv.
Neither hero is strictly better — they fit different roles. Shiv is a Brawler and Bebop is a Brawler, so the right pick depends on your team composition, the enemy draft, and which playstyle you are comfortable with. Check the win rates on our tier list for the current patch.
