Eternus is the highest rank in Deadlock — the top 1 percent of players. Reaching it isn't about a single trick; it's about building a complete game with no major weaknesses. Here's what separates Eternus players from everyone else.
Key points: The first pillar is near-perfect fundamentals; The second pillar is matchup mastery; The third pillar is macro play.
Eternus is the highest rank in Deadlock — the top 1 percent of players. Reaching it isn't about a single trick; it's about building a complete game with no major weaknesses. Here's what separates Eternus players from everyone else.
The first pillar is near-perfect fundamentals. Eternus players last-hit nearly every soul, deny aggressively, and maintain 9+ souls per minute through every phase. Their farming is so consistent it's boring — and that's the point.
The second pillar is matchup mastery. Eternus players know every hero's abilities, power spikes, and counter matchups. They know when they win a trade and when to back off, down to specific soul advantages and item breakpoints.
The third pillar is macro play. Eternus games are won and lost on rotations, objective timing, and map control. These players know exactly when to group for the urn, when to split push, and when to sacrifice a lane to secure a bigger objective.
The fourth pillar is consistency. Eternus players don't have great games and terrible games. They play at a high level every single game, avoiding the emotional swings that cause solo queue throws.
Coordination matters more at this rank. Eternus players communicate constantly, track enemy positions, and play around their team's strengths. Individual skill still matters, but games are won by the team that executes together.
To progress toward Eternus, work on one weakness at a time. Record your games, identify your biggest mistake each session, and fix it before moving to the next. This structured approach compounds faster than blind grinding.
Replay review is non-negotiable at this level. Eternus players study their own games and their losses ruthlessly. Every death is a lesson: where you were, what you bought, what you should have done differently.
Expect diminishing returns on time. Improving from Emissary to Phantom might take weeks; Phantom to Ascendant takes months; Ascendant to Eternus can take a full season or more. The gap between each rank grows as you climb.
If you're serious about reaching the top, playing alongside better players accelerates the process. Whether through coaching, duo queue with a higher-ranked friend, or studying top players' replays, exposure to a higher level of play is the fastest teacher.
