Every Deadlock patch falls into three categories: hero changes, item adjustments, and gameplay tweaks.
Hero changes are buffs and nerfs to specific characters. A buffed hero often climbs the tier list, while a nerfed hero drops. This is why the "best hero" answer changes every few weeks — a hero that was S-tier last month can be mid-tier today.
Item adjustments change prices, stats, and effects. When an item gets cheaper or stronger, it becomes a core purchase. When it gets nerfed, players swap it out. Watching item changes matters even more than hero changes, because items affect every hero.
Gameplay tweaks cover mechanics, objectives, and map updates. These are rarer but have the biggest impact — a change to soul mechanics or objective timers can flip the entire game's strategy.
The most recent updates introduced a matchmaking rework and the new Ranked mode, plus a balance pass touching over fifteen heroes. Stamina changes, soul orb adjustments, and item rebalancing all landed in the same window.
How should you react to a new patch? First, check if your main heroes were touched. If they were buffed, their win rate and pick rate will climb — a good time to play them. If they were nerfed, expect a dip and consider a backup hero.
