Paradox is a disruptor who wins by controlling when and where a fight happens, not by out-trading anyone. Her mid-range rifle, Trade Secret, fires five-round bursts, but her real identity is time manipulation: Pulse Grenade, Time Wall, Kinetic Carbine and Paradoxical Swap. She opens an engagement by dropping a Time Wall that stops every enemy bullet and projectile touching it while speeding up her team's, then picks the moment to swap an enemy into her waiting squad. She can threaten at any range with a charged Kinetic Carbine, whose Time-Stop and weapon-damage scaling make it both a poke tool and an execution. She has no ability-based escape and only 730 base health, so she plays behind her frontline and refuses fair fights — she wins by making fights unfair.
Strong vs: Paradox feasts on bullet- and projectile-reliant heroes: Time Wall stops every enemy bullet and projectile that touches it, including projectiles from abilities and items, so one wall blunts a ranged carry's whole output. Against an isolated, immobile target a charged Carbine Time-Stop into Paradoxical Swap is close to a guaranteed pick, since the swap only has to connect once and then ignores walls and distance. She is strong against anyone who cannot escape a stationary fight, because Pulse Grenade punishes standing in its expanding pulse and keeps stacking increased damage on that victim. And because her identity is repositioning, she is strongest against squishy backline heroes who can be swapped out of position and buried before their team reacts.
Weak vs: Her entire kit is crowd control and displacement, so effects that shrug off or cleanse those blank her. Unstoppable suppresses the Time-Stop on Kinetic Carbine and the slow on Time Wall, denying the freeze she needs for a swap kill, even though it does not stop the Pulse Grenade damage debuff. Dispel Magic can wipe her grenade debuff, wall slow and swap, and Indomitable or Cloak of Opportunity cleanse Paradoxical Swap outright so neither she nor the target moves. Hard dive and gap-closers punish her, because she has no ability escape and only 730 base health — if she is caught out, the swap cannot save her. She also struggles against teams that spread out and refuse to clump, since her kit rewards pulling enemies together and a disciplined enemy never gives her the isolated target she wants.
Viscous is an evasive, disruptive bruiser who wins fights by outlasting and repositioning rather than out-bursting. He throws Splatter to paint the ground with goo, slowing enemies caught in the puddles while giving himself and his allies faster slides. The Cube is his panic button and his rescue tool: encasing a target makes them invulnerable and boosts health regen, and he can use it on himself or a teammate. Puddle Punch lets him knock enemies around, displacing them away from teammates or into bad spots. When he wants to commit, Goo Ball turns him into a bouncing, damage-stunning wrecking ball with heavy bullet and spirit resist. Play him patiently: chip, slow, cube out of danger, then roll in when the fight tips your way.
Strong vs: Viscous does well against heroes who rely on a single burst window, since The Cube simply erases that damage. He punishes slow, clumping compositions because Splatter and Puddle Punch hit everyone in an area. Heroes who need to stand still and channel suffer against his knockback and displacement. His resist-heavy Goo Ball lets him survive against burst-damage heroes who expect to delete him.
Weak vs: Enemies with strong, repeatable poke can wear Viscous down before he commits, and The Cube only buys time rather than winning the fight. Parries hurt him: Puddle Punch can be parried, and parrying it procs Rebuttal, though Viscous himself isn't stunned if that happens. Displacement and knockback can push his cube around or yank targets out of his goo. His damage comes in steady chips rather than one big burst, so sustain-heavy bruisers and healers can outlast him. If The Cube is on cooldown when he gets focused, he has no panic button left.
Viscous has the larger base health pool at 780, compared to 730 for Paradox.
Paradox has the higher weapon DPS at 51.398, versus 49.238 for Viscous.
Neither hero is strictly better — they fit different roles. Paradox is a Marksman and Viscous is a Mystic, so the right pick depends on your team composition, the enemy draft, and which playstyle you are comfortable with. Check the win rates on our tier list for the current patch.
