Infernus is a fire-wielding Ixian who wins by keeping a burn alive, not by landing one big hit. His weapon, Incendiary Remarks, builds up Afterburn with every shot, so rapid-fire hits keep spirit damage ticking on a target even after he stops shooting. Napalm coats enemies, slows them, and makes them take more damage, which is your setup for everything else. Flame Dash is the engage and escape tool: he dashes forward with slow resistance while leaving a flaming trail that burns anyone chasing or fleeing through it. Concussive Combustion turns him into a living bomb, dealing spirit damage and stunning everything nearby after a short delay, and once cast it cannot be interrupted. You play him by constantly refreshing Afterburn, keeping targets coated in napalm, and timing the bomb for clumped fights or dives.
Strong vs: Infernus punishes slow or clustered targets, because anyone who cannot escape a Napalm coat simply keeps burning. He is strong against enemy comps that want to dive and stand on him: when they commit, Concussive Combustion stuns everything nearby. Afterburn's sustained spirit damage grinds down heroes who rely on health and regen rather than burst, since the burn keeps ticking after a fight looks lost. Coating a whole group with Napalm raises the damage they take, so your team's follow-up lands harder too.
Weak vs: Infernus struggles against anything that removes or resists his debuffs, since both Napalm's effect and Afterburn can be dispelled and Debuff Resist cuts Afterburn's base and maximum burn duration (though not its build-up). Long-range poke and burst heroes can kill him before Afterburn ever stacks, because his burn needs time to pay off. Flame Dash can be interrupted by Majestic Leap, Ethereal Shift, or Refresher, and being slowed or disabled keeps him from closing the distance. Caught without Concussive Combustion ready, he has little instant threat and can be run over.
McGinnis is a Support and Disruption hero who reshapes the battlefield with deployables rather than winning straight-up duels. Her Services Rendered machine gun spins up over two seconds to a much higher fire rate and wider spread, so she wants to be shooting for extended stretches instead of trading quick pot-shots. Mini Turrets lock down lanes and objectives, Medicinal Specter keeps a squad topped up, Spectral Wall splits the terrain and traps enemies, and Heavy Barrage rains homing rockets on faraway targets. Play her as a zone-control anchor: set up turrets and healing before a fight, then use the wall to cut off escapes and the ult to punish anyone caught in the open. She is a force multiplier, not a frontline brawler, so positioning behind your team matters more than hunting a highlight solo kill.
Strong vs: McGinnis punishes heroes that stand still or dive into predictable spots, because a pre-placed turret and an erupted wall leave them nowhere to go. Squishy casters and long-range snipers feel the pressure of Mini Turrets and Heavy Barrage reaching them without her committing. Assassins that rely on a single gap-closer can get trapped the moment Spectral Wall erupts. Teams that clump up around objectives are ideal targets for her rockets and turret focus. She is strongest in any fight where she gets to set up ahead of time.
Weak vs: Mobile heroes that can hop over or dash past Spectral Wall largely ignore her main control tool. Bursty divers who close the gap before turrets spin up can delete her, since she has low mobility and a slow-firing weapon early. Long-range poke and healing reduction wear her down while her deployables are on cooldown. Enemies who quickly clear turrets can deny her zone control and collect the bounty. Any pick that forces her to fight alone in the open negates her support strengths.
Infernus has the larger base health pool at 830, compared to 780 for McGinnis.
McGinnis has the higher weapon DPS at 72.381, versus 52.381 for Infernus.
Neither hero is strictly better — they fit different roles. Infernus is a Marksman and McGinnis is a Mystic, so the right pick depends on your team composition, the enemy draft, and which playstyle you are comfortable with. Check the win rates on our tier list for the current patch.
